What is an RDHAP?

A Registered Dental Hygienist in Alternative Practice (RDHAP) is a licensed dental hygienist who has completed advanced training and is authorized to provide dental hygiene services independently in community and nontraditional settings. RDHAPs bring professional oral healthcare directly to patients in homes, assisted living communities, schools, and other accessible locations.

Our role goes beyond routine cleanings. We provide preventive and therapeutic dental hygiene care, oral health assessments, health screenings, education, and personalized care planning — helping patients maintain oral health while supporting overall wellness and improving access to essential care.
